Unconscious limitations

I recently realized that unconsciously, I had been putting Limitations on myself. The primary way in which such limitations manifest themselves is that I think “either/or” and not “both.”

Instead of trying to figure out a way to eat both the chocolate gelato and pistachio gelato (or at least determine whether it’s possible at all to eat both flavors) I automatically go to “I must choose one of the two; I cannot have both.”

Why do I think this way? Hmm.

Maybe it’s this idea that I “gave up” many things to accomplish other things. And indeed, I did give up some things, it’s not like I imagined all that. But I wonder if framing the situation as “giving up,” after the act, is very helpful for me. Such framing seems to affect future decisions.

This episode of Sponge is related to these topics of Unconscious Limitations, framing, and mindset in general. It goes from Coil to Pronoun to advertising talk, money talk in general, creativity in the year 2023, and my intent to become a (figurative) estate instead of a hut.
