Beginners guide to picking colours for acrylic painting

When you are a beginner, finding some good acrylic paint can be little scary because of the variety of them in the market. We are here to help you with tips to choose wisely from a big range that matches your budget as well as your requirements.

First of all, you would need to start playing with some Colours and get into the world of art. This way, you will know the areas of your interest and the selection of paints and colours that you wish to make art with! You need to get involved to choose some good colours, since everyone has their personal preferences.

It is not about the use of bright colours but the modification between light, dark, warm and cool colours. Choose gentle earth colours if you wish to paint refined still life paintings. For some intense abstracts, use bright synthetic colours which give complex colour concentration.

Sometimes, you will find biasness as the original tint will show up in colour pigments. When wrong colour pigments are used, they create issue while you try to mix it with fresh vivid colours. If you wish to resolve this issue, than you can create a colour scheme which combines two primaries (red, yellow and blue).

·       Yellow with Orange – Cadmium Yellow

·       Red with Violet – Quinacridone Red

·       Blue with Purple – Ultramine Blue

Where to find some good acrylic colours?

Camel Artist Acrylic Colours are rich, soft and a moderation between oil and water colours. One can use it directly from the tube/jar or even mix it with water. A palette knife can be used for thick application, which will add a nice texture to it without breaking in between. These colors from Camlin can be used on various surfaces, be it ceramic, wood or some paintings.

Once, you’ve chosen the color palette and are ready to get into the painting process, thesee are some tips which you would want to remember to make things more cool and exciting:

·       Do not forget to rinse your brushes and dry them after every use (even if you take a small break). These acrylics dry very fast and not taking care of your brush can spoil your art.

·       Keep a spray bottle handy, which you can use to spray water on the palette. This will keep the paint wet and avoid drying fast.

·       Use a palette which is easy to wash and doesn’t absorb the paint. Try using the ones which are made of plastic, glass or ceramic.

·       Avoid using a brush while mixing colours. Buy a nice palette knife or flat plastic ones will work too. It is easy to clean and the colours won’t stick on it.

·       You would need to keep an eye on the paint as they become dark after they dry. Working on these types will take you sometime but the best you can do is experiment.

·       Mistakes can be easily corrected when you paint with acrylic colours and these would be helpful to become a pro.

Overall, the best thing you can do is to enjoy the method and use a mixture of practice and instinct to choose the colour and palette of your choice to just paint the world.
