As the third book in the series, Love is Worth Fighting For by Effie Kammenou, might be her best work yet.  Love is Worth Fighting For brings the beauty of Greece, its customs, language, food, and heritage to life in the best ways.

Krystina has a gift—she knows what she wants in the world, and she vows to chase after her dreams until they become reality. Krystina wants to travel to beautiful places and take photographs of herself in adorable outfits to post to Instagram for her followers.  The only problem with this plan is that Loukas, her former childhood friend and her current constant nagging companion, seems to have taken up all her headspace. When Krystina has a major life event occur, Loukas is there to support her every step.  Ultimately, Krystina will learn that even if obstacles cannot be overcome, love is always worth the fight.

Effie Kammenou has a gift—she brings every setting to life with such vivid imagery the reader will feel like he or she is also traveling down the stone-lined, café-strewn streets with Krystina.  She balances multiple characters and storylines like a fisherman—doling out storylines as the reader needs them without getting the lines tangled.  I loved the sweet connections she establishes over time which really deepen the relationships between the characters and help the reader understand each dynamic.  For instance, Loukas shared a memory of when his friends pushed him to steal Krystina’s undergarments because they all liked her; the guys then made public comments in the hallway about her cup size and the hearts on her underwear in front of her peers and friends.  She immediately knew it was Loukas that had taken them.  I loved this anecdote—it was original and gave me the backstory I needed to understand their relationship better.

If you’re looking for a book to read that will make you feel like you’re on vacation, I highly recommend this one.  Even if you’ve had many trips this year, reading this book will feel like you’ve taken one more.  Effie’s writing and her characters are beautifully crafted and the suspense in the story will keep you reading to see if love wins out.  Chick Lit Cafe loves every single book in the Meraki series and we highly recommend readers picking up this series or giving it as a gift to a friend who love this genre and the idea of being in the Mediterranean seaside of Greece. Although each one can be read as a stand alone, to read the entire series is a super extraordinary and satisfying reading experience.
