The ‘Summertime Sadness’’ artist, while performing in Charleston, West Virginia on 5th October, ended her series of live shows by revealing that she had donated the proceeds from ticket sales back to the cities that hosted her performances throughout the tour.

Addressing her fans in attendance, Lana Del Rey expressed her gratitude, saying, “I just wanted to say thank you to you and just every city I’ve gone to before this…every ticket, every dollar, it is poured right back into the city.” She claimed that her motivation behind this act was not about the money, stating, “It’s not about [the money] for me. I know that sounds cheesy, but I tour because I love it… I don’t need to. I just love it, and we’re all about the places we’ve been to.”

One could argue that Lana Del Rey’s decision to donate tour earnings is not only a kind-hearted gesture but also a smart one. By giving back to the cities, she fosters a deep connection with her fan base and the places she performs. It echoes the actions of icons like Bob Dylan, who donated his Nobel Prize winnings to charity, and Taylor Swift, who has supported numerous causes over the years and who recently distributed half her tour earnings to her crew.

In 2020, she made headlines by donating an advance payment from her latest book, ‘Violet Bent Backwards Over The Grass,’ to provide clean water for some of the most vulnerable communities inspiring many fans to follow in her footsteps and donate to charities.
