About Dunnie
Oladunni Lawal, better known by her stage name Dunnie, is a Nigerian female musician who also writes songs and produces records. She advertises her music on her own. The 1992 birth year of the vocalist from Abuja shows how she seamlessly blends soul, Afro-pop, and hip-hop. She realized her talent for singing at a very young age, and at the age of 12, she started performing solos and lead vocals in her local church.
She wrote and performed at numerous community events after releasing her debut song in 2007 when she was just 15 years old. At the age of sixteen, Dunnie started picking up the guitar.
Dunnie made her debut in the industry in 2011 when she released her first track, “E Go Better,” which spent three weeks in the Top Ten on Cool FM Abuja in 2012. Since then, she has been actively making and promoting her music.
On July 7, 2018, she released her EP “Seven,” which included seven wonderful songs including “Simpulu,” “Gbemiloke,” “Unconditionally,” and many others. This well-received debut work celebrated her seven years of a successful music career.
When asked where she got her ideas, Dunnie said,
She has collaborated with musicians like Fiokee and Ric Hassani, to name a couple. However, her music is highly unique from those of these other musicians.
