A brilliant Nigerian lady identified as Funmilayo Ajayi has set a unique academic record at the prestigious Yale University in the United States after she won a Master’s degree scholarship.
The exceptional lady, Funmilayo Ajayi graduated from the Federal University Of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria with a First Class bachelor’s degree in Economics.
After she graduated with an outstanding academic performance from the University, she immediately joined the Klynveld, Peat, Marwick and Goerdeler, KPMG, one of the Indian leading providers of risk, financial and business advisory, tax and regulatory services, internal audit, and corporate governance as an intern and later an Audit Associate.
The courageous lady, Funmilayo Ajayi had to resign from her office after winning a fully funded Master’s Scholarship to further her education at the prestigious Yale University in the United States of America.
While announcing her unique academic success on LinkedIn, she mentioned that she emerged as one out of the two only African students accepted into the University.
In her words;
“In the spirit of celebrating a new month, I think it is worthy to note my little win in the month of August. “On August 8 2022, I terminated my employment with KPMG Nigeria . “Glory to God, I am delighted to start a new career journey with a Masters Degree in International and Development Economics(IDE) at Yale University on a fully-funded scholarship. The scholarship was awarded by the Yale IDE program in conjunction with the Yale Economic Growth Center “My gratitude goes to the entire The Michael Taiwo Scholarships team and the GAIN – Graduate Applications International Network team for their support (financally & through mentorship) towards my application process. “Special thanks to my lecturers at Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta; Sunday Posu, Adedayo O. Adedeji, Ph.D, M.A. Dada and Ismail Fasanya (Ph.D.) for writing great letters of recommendation for me.
