Six Shi’ite Members Killed and scores injured in Zaria

Shi’ite | Six members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) reportedly died and numerous others were injured during this year’s Ashura Day parade in Zaria.

The movement’s head in Zaria, Mallam Abdulhamid Bello, confirmed the murder and claimed that a team of Security Agents Attacked their march along the Zaria City Market and began firing erratically, killing several of their members and injuring many more.

Jafar Magaji Jushi, Kazeem Lawal Magume, Ali Lawal Samaru, Muhsin Badamasi Yakub Zakzaky, Umar Inuwa, and Anguwar Fatika were the names he supplied as the victims, along with one additional person whose name he couldn’t recall at the moment.

Bello continued, “a lot of them (Shi’ite members) have been rushed to St Luke’s hospital in Wusasa while those in critical condition were taken to Abu Teaching Hospital Shika Zaria,” adding that the number of casualties has not yet been fully counted.

Although he was aware of the occurrence, theGazetteNGR learnt that the Kaduna Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Mohammed Jalinge stated he hadn’t yet received a thorough explanation of what had happened.
