Director of the Diaspora Division, Hon. Ambassador James Bwana and Chief Officer of Major Customers and the
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation and NMB Bank have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to
create a Digital Hub System, (Diaspora Digital Hub System) where the bank has guaranteed 100 million shillings
to improve the system's services to meet the needs of the Diaspora.
Director of the Diaspora Division Hon. Ambassador James Bwana said that the digital system will help the Government
to identify, register and enable the Tanzanian Diaspora in different parts of the world to
access various services including banking and participate digitally in various development, business,
economic and investment activities in the country.
But also, it will open up the possibility of more opportunities and understand fluently the number of Diaspora, knowledge, education and
they will be able to get various services for their needs.
On his part, the Chief Officer of Large Clients and the Government of NMB, Mr. Alfred Shao said that they believe that
the completion of the system will enable the Tanzanian Diaspora to connect, be recognized and enable the Government
to have accurate data and reach many diasporas at the same time and thus bring great
success to the Nation and individual Tanzanians living abroad.
The agreement has been signed by the Director of the Diaspora Division Hon. Ambassador James Bwana on behalf
of the Chief Customer and Government Officer, Mr. Alfred Shao and witnessed by the Acting Secretary of the Board of
Directors of NMB, Consolatha Mosha and the Ministry's Lawyer - Miriam Kilo in the Ministry's Small Offices
in Dar es Salaam.
