from Doris Leslie Blau.rnrnTranscriptrn We wanted a place that was, you know,rn much more just homey and had more soul to it.rn When we were looking around town,rn we stumbled upon this place.rn And it's in a neighborhood that we really love,rn and we just felt like this was a great placern for us to move in to.rn This apartment just kind of embodiesrn everything that I love.rn Obviously I love dark and rusticrn but still very clean and very chic.rn It just feels like our place in LA as well but in New York.rn So we worked with Don Stewart again on this house.rn He designed our house in LA as well.rn And we love working with Don.rn We duplicated this wooden wall behind usrn and put it in the bedroom as wellrn because originally it was just a clean white bedroom.rn We built a whole new bathroom,rn and got rid of another massive bathroomrn that was on the other side of the apartment.rn Oh yeah, I made the big bath,rn it's now John's closet so he has to walkrn from the shower back to his, but it's a big closetrn though so you are very lucky there.rn This is my favorite.rn No, I love it, I love seeing it when I walk in.rn It adds a little whimsical vibe.rn Yeah.rn And our dogs are in love, especially Putty.rn Putty makes love to it on often occasion.rn Oh my goodness, wow.rn I think the best things about this apartment isrn this beautiful unique kitchen.rn In the original version of this apartment,rn didn't really fit this aesthetic as well.rn Yeah, it was too modern.rn It was too clean, it was white.rn It just didn't feel like it fitrn everything else that was happening.rn So we made it fit and Don designedrn this amazing set of cabinets.rn And that's one of the best things about this apartment,rn just this beautiful unique kitchen.rn For me the kitchen is really important.rn It's the first thing I think aboutrn when we find a beautiful apartment like this.rn It's a place I'm going to be most of the time.rn I want it to be perfect for me.rn So Don did a wonderful job designing it.rn Obviously we love an open space.rn I'm a big TV fan.rn I want to be able to cook, drink wine,rn watch TV at the same time.rn So we made sure it was nice and open.rn This island is just gorgeous and I love the bar stoolsrn and of course the backsplash is gorgeous too.rn She makes pretty much everything well.rn She's really good at everything savory.rn I think I'm kind of notorious for cookingrn really low and slow meals.rn I love things that take four or five hours.rn We had to have two ovens.rn That all had to do with the holidays.rn For Thanksgiving we had over peoplern and I made side dishes.rn Yeah, so we needed multiple ovens.rn We needed a lot of...rn It's actually illegal I thinkrn for us to have this much power usagern with these two ovens.rn We live on the edge.rn We live on the edge, we're crazy.rn But I think we're violating some kind of code.rn Shhh.rn I'm the sous-chef, I do chopping.rn And taking out the trash.rn Every once in a while though he does want to cook for me,rn but it's hard for me to just sit on the couch.rn She won't watch me, she won't let me just cook.rn It's frustrating to watch.rn I can make a mean fried chicken though.rn
