The TDP intensified its criticism against the YSRCP government for choosing expensive software from a US company, Critical River, instead of using the free software developed by NIC.
TDP’s Neelayapalem Vijay Kumar questioned why the government paid 34 crore for software when a similar one was available for free. He alleged that Critical River was chosen based on the recommendation of Paturi Seshi Reddy, the government’s IT advisor, and raised concerns about the company’s capability to manage land records securely.
Despite being a startup, Critical River reported substantial revenues, leading to questions about the selection process and the safety of private property data stored on their servers.
Vijay Kumar demanded transparency regarding the agreements with Critical River, payments made, and the security measures in place for digital property documents. He expressed worries about potential digital tampering of records and urged the government to clarify its decisions regarding software procurement.
