Krishnamachari Srikkanth disappointed with India’s T20 World Cup Squad

Former Indian cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth voiced his displeasure over the exclusion of Rinku Singh from the provisional 15-man Squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA. Srikkanth accused the selectors of playing favorites and making Rinku Singh a scapegoat in the squad selection process.

Rinku Singh, known for his finishing abilities with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), was left out, while selectors opted for Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya as finishers. Srikkanth expressed his frustration on his YouTube channel, stating that Rinku Singh’s consistent performances and match-winning knocks should have earned him a spot, even if it meant dropping another player like Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Rinku Singh’s impressive T20I record includes 356 runs at an average of 89 and a striking rate of 176.24 in just 15 matches. Srikkanth highlighted Rinku Singh’s crucial innings in matches like the one against Afghanistan, where India recovered from a shaky start.

Critics and fans shared Srikkanth’s sentiments, questioning the selectors’ decisions and India’s conservative approach to T20 cricket. The squad announcement sparked disappointment among supporters, who feel the team is not adapting to the evolving demands of the shortest format of the game.

India’s squad for the T20 World Cup includes Rohit Sharma (captain), Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), and other key players, with Rinku Singh listed among the reserves.
