The manga, which started in Monthly G Fantasy magazine in November 2014, has been a hit, with fifteen tankōbon volumes compiled by June 2023. Yen Press announced the English licensing of the manga during Sakura-Con 2017.

The story follows Abe Haruaki, a novice teacher who is timid and a bit of a crybaby. To his surprise, he finds himself teaching in a school filled with youkai, leading to amusing and strange daily adventures between the scared human teacher and his youkai students.
