1. John Lennon’s hero was Elvis Presley in the rock and roll history

Elvis Presley was a young John Lennon’s idol, and the American singer was a key reason why Lennon eventually chose a career in show business. The young Lennon would dress like Elvis Presley and comb his hair similarly.

When The Beatles became famous, Brian Epstein, their manager, arranged for them to see Elvis in America. Although the meeting was polite and the musicians enjoyed a brief jam session, Lennon felt Elvis seemed uninterested in talking with them and wasn’t engaging in person.

John Lennon‘s reason to love Elvis Presley:

“Without Elvis, there would be no The Beatles. When I first heard ‘Heartbreak Hotel’… me whole life changed from then on; I was just completely shaken by it.” 

2. Wu-Tang Clan’s “The 8 Diagrams” (2007)

This album “The 8 Diagrams” by Wu-Tang Clan featured a guest appearance by George Harrison’s only son, Dhani. The album’s first single covered the Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” called “The Heart Gently Weeps.”

The album marked the Wu-Tang Clan’s first full cooperation since the death of founding member Ol’ Dirty Bastard in 2004. In honor of ODB, here’s another The Beatles song, “Love Me Do” and more.

Instead, “The Heart Gently Weeps,” a reworking of The Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” was released as the first official single. Dhani Harrison, George Harrison’s son, and John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers played acoustic and lead guitars, respectively.

It was initially considered to be sampled music, but it was later proven to be an interpolated version of Jimmy Ponder’s cover of the song. Raekwon, Ghostface, and Method Man rap on the track, with Erykah Badu providing guest vocals. Stone Mecca, one of the newest Wu-Tang bands, also supplied backing music to the way, according to RZA.

3. John Lennon’s “Imagine” piano story

George was a huge The Beatles fan. Over the years, he covered songs like ‘The Long and Winding Road’ and ‘Get Back.’ He has worked with Paul McCartney several times, including a duet rendition of ‘Heal the Pain.’

When the ‘Imagine’ piano went up for auction at the Hard Rock Café in London in 2000, George chose to buy it so it could stay in the UK. He is also said to have outbid the Gallagher brothers and Robbie Williams for the piano.

The piano traveled to the United States in 2007 as part of a peace tour organized by George and his then-partner Kenny Goss.

5. The reason why The Beatles doesn’t use Fender Guitars until 1965

Fender guitars were not used by The Beatles until 1965. They’d already released four and a half albums by that point.

This supposedly set them apart from The Shadows, known for using Fender guitars and featured guitarist Hank Marvin. During Beatlemania, The Beatles’ adoption of the Epiphone Casino catapulted the guitar to tremendous global sales, exceeding the Gibson equivalent, the ES-330.

Paul McCartney’s image is linked with the Hofner 500/1 Violin Bass, making the theft of his original bass all the more startling. McCartney bought the bass in 1962 at the Steinway Musichaus in Hamburg, Germany.

“There was this bass which was quite cheap…

I couldn’t afford a Fender; even then, they seemed to be about £100. All I could really afford was about £30, so for about £30 I found this Hofner violin bass. And to me it seemed like, because I was left-handed, it looked less daft. Because it was symmetrical. Didn’t look as bad as a cutaway which was the wrong way. So I got into that.”
