Kobe’s Parents Co-Signed His First Contract


Kobe Bryant was selected as the 13th overall pick for the 1996 NBA draft. The Charlotte Hornets selected him and he was immediately traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.


Kobe wasn’t yet 18 years old by the time of the draft. Eligibility for an NBA draft by then was different from today. 


His parents had to co-sign the NBA contract until Kobe turned 18 years later that year. The three-year rookie contract was worth $3.5 million.


He turned out to be among the highest-paid athletes in the history of team sports. 

Lebron James Is Lefthanded But Shoots With The Righthand



Apart from being one of the most recognizable NBA players today, LeBron eats and writes using his left hand. However, he shoots the basketball using his right hand. 


When asked how he does this, he replied that he developed the act of shooting using his right hand during his childhood to emulate his idols, Michael Jordan and Penny Hardaway.


The naturally ambidextrous player has learned how to use both his hands equally well. 

Paul Pierce Was Stabbed 11 Times But Finished The 2001-2002 Season



Pierce tried to stop a fight at Buzz Club in Boston and was stabbed 11 times on 25th September 2020. He got wounds on the neck, back, and face.


During the fracas, someone even smashed a bottle on his head. 


Tony Battie, a former teammate, rushed him to the hospital where he underwent lung surgery to save his life. Miraculously, he was back on his feet three days after the surgery.


He Played all 82 games during the 2001-2002 season.


Pierce was the only Boston Celtics player to start all the games in the season. His dedication to his team and the sport kept him going. 

Tyrone "Muggsy" Bogues Is The Shortest NBA Player Ever 



No one could imagine that someone with a height of 5' 3'' would ever make it to the NBA.


Muggsy faced a lot of criticism regarding his height throughout his career but he kept going forward. He blocked 39 shots against taller players. 


The amazing athlete who was famous for his steals played for the same team as the NBA’s tallest player.


Muggsy was with Manute Bol during the 1987-1988 season playing for the Washington Bullets. 


He played in the league for 14 years including a 10-season stretch with the Charlotte Hornets. The 5ft 3in star broke NBA norms by taking on a journey that seemed like an impossible feat.


Throughout his career, he was considered the smallest but most fierce player on the court. 

Michael Jordan Was Fined For Each Game He Wore Air Jordans 



Air Jordans were introduced in 1985 and turned out to become the best basketball sneakers of all time.


During that time, players were encouraged to wear sneakers that matched their jerseys and those of their teammates. 


The first Jordans were in black and red and former commissioner David Stern didn’t like them. This was because they were not matching the Chicago Bulls jersey.


Michael was always fined $5000 for each game he played wearing those sneakers. 


Nike could pay the fine on Michael’s behalf because the price wasn’t as much as the marketing they were getting.
