Owner of Harry Potter house is fed up of fans knocking on the door

Harry Potter holds a special place in millions of fans' hearts. But for one homeowner, the world of witchcraft and wizardry has proven to be something of a headache.
The individual residing in the house, which served as the backdrop for 4 Privet Drive in the immensely popular Harry Potter film series, has chosen to remain anonymous.

For those unfamiliar, this fictional residence was the home of the Dursleys and their nephew, Harry Potter.

Considering its iconic status, it comes as no surprise that the actual house located in Bracknell, Berkshire, has garnered significant attention from devoted Harry Potter fans.

However, the homeowner is unimpressed by the continuous fan excitement surrounding the property.
In an interview with The Sun, the homeowners shared their experiences, stating, "We have witnessed people in tears. It's quite strange. We understand when children get emotional, but even adults participate by dressing up in complete attire and reenacting scenes."

"There was one instance when someone attempted to climb the fence, and that's when we had to intervene and say, 'Please don't do that!'"

"We try to be accommodating. I've even moved my cars to allow people to take good photos."

They further commented, "I don't mind. Harry Potter is incredible, and I completely understand the enthusiasm. However, it can be overwhelming to come home from work and find people constantly present on your driveway. It's quite surreal."

"When we purchased the house, we were aware of its significance, although they didn't fully inform us that fans would be here every day, all day. It's a continuous occurrence."

The property was previously listed for sale in 2016 but was subsequently withdrawn. It is worth noting that a neighboring house reportedly sold for £650,000, nearly £200,000 above the initial asking price.
The owner continued: "You open the curtains in the morning. You don't get used to it. It's really weird.

"Ten is the maximum we've had but people come in groups. People come in cars and it's all day and sometimes at night. The school holidays are the worst. Last week we had loads of people knocking on the door. It's more of the fact that it's a constant stream.

"It's fascinating how, even after all these years, this franchise still generates such immense enthusiasm. At times, I find it difficult to comprehend."

"Fortunately, the majority of people do approach the door and politely request permission to take a photo. However, there are some who don't bother with such niceties."

"I do feel sympathy for the neighbors since they often find themselves on their driveways, attempting to capture a good photo."

"It's remarkable how individuals have traveled great distances, even from different parts of the world. Occasionally, encounters can be rather awkward. While we have grown accustomed to it, it still feels somewhat unfamiliar."
During Harry's time with the Dursleys, he initially resided in a closet beneath the stairs before being granted a spare bedroom.

The homeowner disclosed, "The cupboard remains unchanged. It has remained untouched. It's almost as if Harry Potter still lives here. We currently use it for storage, housing items like coats, an ironing board, and a vacuum cleaner."

"We have considered the idea of transforming it back into the cupboard."

While the actual house itself was featured in only one of the films, the street was recreated on a set for subsequent movies.

Fans have the opportunity to explore that recreated set at the Warner Bros Studio Tour in Leavesden, Hertfordshire.
