Dog tries to drag owner into pub and refuses to move 'exposing other half's walking route'

Grenson, the Airedale terrier, displayed behavior that seemed like he was revealing something about his owner. During a walk on May 15, Kate Torney noticed that Grenson stopped outside The Stand Off, a sports pub in Exeter city center, and adamantly refused to continue walking. This incident sparked speculation about Grenson potentially exposing the true intention behind their outing. Despite already having a reputation for being headstrong, Grenson's actions on that day surpassed expectations.
Despite Kate's attempts to pull Grenson away from the pub, he remained stubborn and eventually settled himself in the doorway. Throughout the ordeal, onlookers amused themselves at Kate's expense, causing her considerable embarrassment. Grenson, displaying a clear inclination for dramatic flair, repeatedly threw himself to the ground outside the pub, persistently refusing to budge.
It was only when Kate nearly had to carry Grenson that she finally succeeded in getting him to move. The two-minute video of this incident went viral on TikTok, instantly turning Grenson into a superstar. Many people jokingly speculated that Grenson's stubbornness and refusal to move stemmed from her husband regularly taking him to the pub. However, Kate clarified that the walk she and Grenson took was a usual one, and to her knowledge, Grenson had never been inside the pub before.

She believed that he was enticed by the enticing scents emanating from the establishment.

The pub's name, The Stand Off, seemed fitting for the situation. Since the video was shared, it has garnered nearly two million views, with over 1,000 people chiming in with their comments. One person humorously commented, "That dog is like, 'Dad always takes me for a pint.'" Another person wrote, "So now we all know that when your partner says they're going for a long walk, this is the real destination." A third individual joked, "If he stops at the betting shop, there will be trouble for the other half." As for Kate, she stated, "To my knowledge, he has never actually been inside that pub. If my husband were secretly taking him there, that would be quite amusing, but no."
She continued by saying, "I think he craves attention, food, and simply enjoys being in social settings. It's embarrassing because you're conscious of people watching you. You don't want to appear foolish or make the situation more embarrassing. I can't just pick him up and walk away easily, but honestly, I find the whole situation quite amusing. After the incident, he happily returned home."

Regarding her dog, she added, "He's a stubborn boy, and anyone who has an Airedale would say the same. They have strong-willed personalities and minds of their own. You just have to accept it; he seems to take pleasure in embarrassing me."

Now, the pub owner has graciously decided to reward both the dog and its owner for the publicity, offering Kate a complimentary meal and Grenson a steak. If they go through with that, it will be nearly impossible to get him to leave the pub.
