Miley Cyrus Goes Back to Brunette For the First Time in 11 Years

The “Flowers” singer Miley Cyrus has ditched her blonde hair. She showed off her dark brown hair on the red carpet at The Daily Front Row’s Fashion Los Angeles Awards in Beverly Hills on 23 April. Her brunette waves, parted in the middle, fell past her Versace dress’s bust and reminded longtime fans of her Disney days.
Cyrus’s new hair colour is a big change from her “Bangerz” era, when she had a blonde pixie cut that signaled her transition from Disney Channel star to mainstream pop artist. She said in a “Today” show interview in December 2022 that she considered going brunette for the new year but changed her mind after Dolly Parton, her godmother, was shocked by the idea.

“She acted like I told her the worst news you can imagine. She clutched her pearls, gasped, and went back and she goes, ‘You can’t do that. You are me,’” Cyrus said of Parton’s reaction. But it seems that Cyrus didn’t let that stop her from changing her hair colour.

This is the first time in 11 years that Cyrus has officially gone brunette. She has tried different shades of blonde, some close to a honey brown, but never this dark. There’s no word yet on whether Parton likes her goddaughter’s new look. However, Cyrus still kept some blonde highlights on either side of her face.

Cyrus has been adventurous with her hair styles over the years, including the divisive side parting. In 2020, she even helped bring back the mullet, with celebrities like Billie Eilish, Debby Ryan, and Lizzo following her lead.

In promotional photos for her latest album, “Endless Summer Holiday,” Cyrus’s hair is clearly blonde. Before she went brunette, she also had a two-toned look that made the switch from platinum to brown easier. Her new hair colour, while nostalgic of her Disney days
