Freddie Prinze Jr says he would absolutely not partake in a third Scooby Doo movie

Don’t expect Freddie Prinze Jr to reunite with Mystery Incorporated any time soon.
The actor recently sat down with TooFab and revealed he’s not interested in a Scooby Doo threequel.

Prinze Jr, who played Fred Jones in the 2002 and 2004 movies, told the outlet that shooting was a ‘tricky’ experience.

When asked if he would ever consider slipping into the blonde wig and orange ascot tie again, he replied: "It wouldn't be for me, man.

"There was too much bait-and-switch on the first one. The studio was not honest with me in any way, shape or form. They were not straightforward.”
He added: "I've been on two jobs where I've had regret doing it, and Scooby was one of them."

Devastating news for Scooby fans the world over.

Prinze Jr. said that although it wasn’t the type of project he wanted to star in, he could finally appreciate the franchise once he saw its impact on young fans.

He added it changed his entire ‘outlook’ on the situation.

Ultimately, he doesn’t regret doing the films, as it led him to reconnect with his now wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played Daphne Blake.
The 47-year-old got candid about another one of his iconic films, sharing that I Know What You Did Last Summer proved to be a challenging shoot as well.

He added that director Jim Gillespie ‘wanted a different actor’ for his role of Ray Bronson.

"He was very direct in the fact that, 'I don't want you in this movie.' So when that's your first job and you hear those words, it just wrecks you, man. It just wrecks you," said Prinze Jr.

"I wanted to fight that guy two or three different times."

According to the She’s All That actor, Gillespie had his heart set on Clueless actor Jeremy Sisto for the role of Ray.

However, the studio and screenwriter Kevin Williamson were adamant about Prinze Jr.

And, as a result, he described he went through hell during filming, as Gillespie would give him ‘psychotic notes’, including, ‘Don’t leave your mouth open [because] you look stupid when you do that'.

However, Prinze Jr. recalled how his co-star Ryan Phillippe often comforted him following the harsh feedback.

“I remember Ryan came up to me and was like, ‘Screw that guy, man. How many times did you audition for this movie?’ and I go, ‘Five times,’ he goes, ‘Yeah, you earned it. You didn’t get offered the role, you earned it,’” he said.
