Edgewater

Homes for Sale in Invermere BC is a community in the Columbia Shuswap Regional District of British Columbia, Canada. It is located on the north shore of Windermere Lake, between Invermere and Radium Hot Springs.

The first settlers arrived in the Edgewater area in 1879 to work at a nearby coal mine (the Edgewater Mine). The mine closed down during an economic downturn in 1885 and reopened again with new investors until it closed permanently around 1900 when all its reserves had been exhausted. At that time there were only three houses left standing on what became known as “Old Edgewater Road” (now Highway 93B).

In 1913, Conrad Schauer came back from working as an engineer for Standard Oil in California to build his dream house overlooking Windermere Lake—and gave his name to our town! He built up a farm here and raised many children who helped him work it; they later moved away when they grew up but returned again over time when they started families themselves.”
