SDCC 2022: From Black Panther: Wakanda Forever to Shazam! Fury of the Gods, check out all the important Marvel and DC announcements for the future.

We all know how much SDCC means to both Marvel and DC. And, it is safe to say that the former stole all the limelight once again from the latter. The DC panel spilled beans only about Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. On the other hand, Marvel took the event by storm, thanks to all the forthcoming MCU shows and movies. Without further ado, let’s check out all the important announcements!

SDCC 2022: Announcements from Marvel Panel

First, let’s have a look at all the upcoming Marvel animated shows!

Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur (2023)

Watch the duo of super-teen prodigy, Lunella Lafayette, and her 10-ton T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur, protecting the innocent people of New York City’s Lower East Side from all sorts of troubles. Check out the show’s first-look clip here!

I Am Groot (August 10)

The 5-parter features Groot (Vin Diesel) going on various exciting adventures and encountering new species. Bradley Cooper’s Rocket is also a part of this one!

Spider-Man: Freshman Year (2024)

Get a chance to witness Peter Parker’s journey of becoming the one and only, Spider-Man. Apart from exploring the early comic book roots of the web-slinger, fans will see him taking on some of the most notorious supervillains in the history of Marvel including Doctor Octopus, Scorpion, Rhino, Tombstone, Tarantula, and many more. Charlie Cox will voice Daredevil in this one.

What If…? Season 2 (early 2023)

According to the panel led by the showrunner Bryan Andrews, Season 2 treasures a Hela-centric episode, Odin vs The Mandarin fight episode, Captain Carter meeting Winter Soldier episode, Tony Stark encountering Valkyrie and Hulk on planet Sakaar episode, a Mad Max style race episode, and many more. Plus, we will see Captain Carter going one-on-one with Hydra Stomper Steve in one of the episodes.

Marvel Zombies (2024)

The group of ragged superheroes including Shang-Chi, Kate Bishop, Yelena Belova, Kamala Khan, Red Guardian, and Death Dealer will take on the zombified versions of Wanda Maximoff, Captain Marvel, Ghost, Abomination, Okoye, Clint Barton, and a no-legged Captain America in this upcoming animated series. To make things more intriguing, Jimmy Woo (Ant-Man and the Wasp and WandaVision) and Katie (Shang-Chi: The Legend of the Ten Rings) will join the highly unorganised superhero faction.

X-Men ’97 (fall 2023)

Things have turned upside down for X-Men as Erik Lehnsherr (aka Magneto) has taken charge of Professor X’s superhero team after Charles Xavier goes into space in the final season of Fox’s original X-Men animated series. How will Xavier’s team, consisting of Wolverine, Jean Gray, Gambit, Beast, Rogue, Storm, Cyclops, and Jubilee, will serve under Magneto’s leadership?

Phase 4

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (November 11, 2022)

The people of Wakanda must protect their homeland from the outside forces after the unexpected demise of their king T’Challa. All the remaining heroes, including Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o), Everett Ross (Martin Freeman), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the rest of the Dora Milaje must come together and forge a new path for their kingdom. The latest teaser also revealed Tenoch Huerta’s Namor and Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams (aka Ironheart). Wakanda Forever will conclude MCU’s Phase 4.

Phase 5

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania (February 17, 2023)

Watch the Lang/Van Dyne family traversing the Quantum Realm and facing an out-of-the-blue adversary in the form of Kang The Conqueror. Hollywood star Jonathan Majors has confirmed that this Kang will be different from He Who Remains. Veteran Bill Murray has an undisclosed role in the film. Additionally, Ant-Man 3 will mark the first live-action appearance of MODOK.

Secret Invasion (spring 2023)

Nick Fury must return to Earth to save people from a large-scale Skrull invasion. He will receive the aid of Talos, Maria Hill, and some old buddies. Don Cheadle’s Rhodey (War Machine) will return in this series. Plus, Emilia Clarke plays one of the agents of SHIELD or SWORD.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (May 5, 2023)

Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord) has been chosen to lead The Ravengers. But his tenure as the group’s leader faces several complications. Apart from winning back Gamora’s confidence, he must protect his team from a highly dangerous mission that may result in the extinction of our beloved Guardians. Also, fans will get a chance to watch Rocket’s origin story. Helmer James Gunn has affirmed that the movie will be a real tear-jerker. The film’s panel further disclosed that Maria Bakalova and Chukwudi Iwuji will portray Cosmo the Space Dog and The High Evolutionary respectively. Wait! We almost forgot to mention Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock here!

SDCC 2022: Announcement from DC Panel

Black Adam (October 21, 2022)

The makers dropped a sneak-peek from the movie showing Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate. The former claimed that “The DC Universe will never be the same again” at the event.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods (December 21, 2022)

The movie takes place a few years after the events of the first film. We will see The Daughters of Atlas, Kalypso and Hespera, in the one in addition to the entire Shazam family.
