Fear Street: Netflix has plans to develop more ‘Fear Street’ movies after dropping the original trilogy last year. According to a report from Bloody Disgusting, the author himself, R. L. Stine, spilled beans about the possibility of the arrival of more ‘Fear Street’ movies in future on the streaming platform. Though, the official confirmation is yet to arrive from Netflix. Stine also revealed that the OTT giant is very serious about developing these films.

“I…hear rumours about more Fear Street movies for Netflix, because the first ones did so well last summer,” said Stine. “Those films kind of shocked me, because they were all R-rated, and I’ve never done anything R-rated! All those teenagers were getting slashed. I was like, ‘Suddenly, I have a slasher movie!’”

The events of the original ‘Fear Street’ trilogy take place in the small but haunted town of Shadyside. All the parts explore different points in time and collectively deliver a centuries-spanning tale of terror and gruesomeness. The events of the first movie take place in the year 1994. A spree of horrifying murders forces a group of teenagers to tackle the evil force that is determined to wreak havoc in their town again. The second one takes place in 1978. A deranged killer slaughters many innocent people in Camp Nightwing, forcing the survivors to save their lives at any cost. And the last one takes us back to 1666 where Deena learns the truth about Sarah Fier. She, along with her friends, gives everything she has to save Shadyside.

All ‘Fear Street’ opened to strongly positive reviews with praises directed towards the actors’ performances, slasher scenes, flawlessly bestowed retro vibes, and gripping storylines. But most importantly, they all captured the spirit of Stine’s novels. Yes, releasing these movies within a couple of weeks was a big gamble. But that gamble paid off big time. All these gory slasher entries were helmed by Leigh Janiak.
