Annie Wilkes is deeply in love with Paul’s Misery Chastain character. And becomes angry when she realizes that he has killed off the character at the end of his latest book. Therefore he forced him to write a new Misery Novel.

Jack Torrance accepts the job as caretaker of the hotel with his wife Wendy and their son Danny. He soon starts to show signs of anger and aggression from cabin fever. Wendy notices this change in her husband and tries to convince him to leave the house with their son. But he refuses to go because he thinks it will be too much work to close up all of the rooms before they leave.

The movie is about an ex-convict name Max Cady who is out for revenge against his lawyer Sam Bowden, who sent him to jail for eight years. Max Cady starts to harass and terrorize Bowden’s family, including his wife Leigh, daughter Danielle and son Morgan.
