Shiv Sena Withdraws Claim Over Chhatrapati Shivaji Park To Hold Dussehra Rally

Mumbai: Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena withdrew their application seeking permission to hold a Dussehra rally at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park.

Sada Sarvankar, the leader of the group and the Shinde faction’s applicant for the Shiv Sena, announced the withdrawal of the application on his social media accounts.

Sarvankar recalled Balasaheb Thackeray, the late leader of the party, speaking in the renowned Shivaji Park. He also praised CM Shinde’s initiatives, which mandated that Dussehra be observed in the same manner as in the past.

Taking to his social media account on X, Sarvankar posted, “Dussehra is an important festival of Hindus! This is a festival for Shiv Sainiks. Honorable Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray has been continuously giving fiery Hindutva thoughts from Shivtirtha for the past 50 years.”

“Shiv Sena leader, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Hon’ble Eknathji Shinde Saheb took a peacemaking stance by announcing that the Dussehra gathering of Shiv Sena would be held in the same spirit this year too and to avoid disputes between each other during Hindu festivals. Public thanks to him on behalf of Shiv Sainik and Hindu people,” he added.

Sarvankar added, “As per CM Shinde’s suggestion, we are withdrawing the application for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park Maidan, Dussehra Gathering!” to further reaffirm the party’s withdrawal of their application.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) can now assert their right to hold the Dussehra Melava at the Shivaji Park in accordance with tradition thanks to this action by the Shinde camp.

On Tuesday morning, School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar informed the media that his party will organize a Dussehra rally from Azad Maidan or Cross Maidan. “

Anil Parab, UBT Shiv Sena MLC, said, “Yesterday, we went to the ward office demanding documents. We showed them discrepancies in the application of the opposite party. We were planning to go to court, but it is good that they withdrew the application.”

Uddhav Thackeray also expressed his gratitude to his party members who contributed to finding a solution. He assured his staff that he was certain Shivaji Park would be set aside for his event. Additionally, he urged all Shiv-Sainik to congregate at Shivaji Park.

The Dussehra rally in Shivaji Park is incredibly significant historically for the city. Bal Thackeray, the late leader of the Shiv Sena, guided the Shiv Sainiks throughout this demonstration. He was well known for criticizing Pakistan and the then-Congress leadership in his speeches, which drew a lot of attention.

Both Eknath Shinde and the Shiv Sena side led by Uddhav Thackeray claimed the historic site to address the gathering after the vertical split in the party last year. When the dispute reached the High Court last year, Shiv Sena (UBT) was granted permission to speak at the event.
