PACKAGED SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT

Sewage is processed in specifically built and highly resistant FRP tanks in a Packaged Sewage Treatment Plant. These tanks are compact and can be installed and decentralized anywhere in the world.

Process of Packaged Sewage Treatment Plant

  1. Preliminary Treatment

To remove large objects such as cans, rags, sticks, plastic packets, etc., influent sewage flows through a bar screen.

2. Secondary Treatment

a) Anaerobic – PSTP begins with an oxygen-depleted anaerobic zone in which solids settle and scum floats. This is the zone where the settled sludge is stabilized by anaerobic digestion.

b) Anoxic: As sewage enters the anoxic zone, denitrification of the wastewater stream occurs by returning activated sludge from the final sedimentation zone to the anoxic zone, where dissolved oxygen levels are maintained at 0.2 to 0.5 mg/l. As a result of anoxic microbes breaking down the existing nitrates, inert nitrogen gas is released into the atmosphere, resulting in denitrification.

c) Aeration – In the aeration zone, sewage flows from the solid separation zone into the aeration zone. Air is diffused in and around the floating plastic media in the aeration zone by air blowers, which encourages the growth of bacteria cultures. MBBR media provides a large surface area for microorganisms to grow on.

d) Sedimentation – As part of the treatment, organic waste settles in the sedimentation zone. As a return sludge, the settled waste in the tank is pumped back to the anoxic zone to ensure that the effluent passes the stipulated sewage parameters.

3. Tertiary Treatment System

Secondary treated sewage is then processed through a Pressure Sand Filter and Activated Carbon Filter to remove suspended solids (TSS), color, and odour, and then disinfected using sodium hypochlorite.
