Elizabeth Olsen and Jesse Plemons’s New Look at HBO Max’s “Love and Death”

A new look at Elizabeth Olsen and Jesse Plemons in HBO Max’s “Love and Death” has been revealed. The series is based on the true story of Candy Montgomery, a Wylie, Texas housewife suspected of the brutal axe murder of her friend Betty Gore in 1980. Check out the images below.

Lesli Linka Glatter directs and David E. Kelley wrote the Max original limited series. The series stars Elizabeth Olsen as Candy Montgomery, Jesse Plemons as Allan Gore, Patrick Fugit as Pat Montgomery, Lily Rabe as Betty Gore, Keir Gilchrist as Ron Adams, Elizabeth Marvel as Jackie Ponder, Tom Pelphrey as Don Crowder, Krysten Ritter as Sherry Cleckler, Beth Broderick as Bertha Pomeroy, Richard C. Jones as Tom Cleckler, and Aaron Jay Rome as Richard Garlington.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Glatter told “It’s the dark side of the American dream.” She added, “Here is a young woman who gets married at 20 years old, and she’s done everything right: She has the kids, she has the family, but she has a hole in her psyche that’s a mile wide, and she makes a very bad choice on how to fill it.” The series, she says, “looks at something that women, and I think men, went through as being products of their time; [they’re] not going to dialogue about what’s going on, but there’s a deep disconnect between the public and private person and the feeling of emptiness.”

What Is About HBO Max’s “Love and Death”?

Candy Montgomery, an unhappy housewife, had an affair with Allan Gore, the husband of her friend and fellow congregation member Betty. Montgomery dropped by the Gore residence in Wylie, a manicured suburb of Dallas, on a Friday the 13th in June 1980, to pick up a swimsuit for Gore’s daughter, who was scheduled to spend the day with her children after pool practice. Betty confronted her about the affair while she was there. Betty’s body was discovered in her blood-soaked utility room later that evening, with 41 axe wounds.

This series will debut on HBO Max in 2023.
