A24 released the first trailer for When You Finish Saving the World Starring Julianne Moore and Finn Wolfhard as a mother and son. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on January 20, 2023. Watch the trailer below.
Directed by Jesse Eisenberg, the film is based on Eisenberg’s 2020 audio drama of the same name. The plot follows, “High school student Ziggy (Wolfhard) performs original folk-rock songs for an adoring online fan base. This concept mystifies his formal and uptight mother, Evelyn (Moore), who runs a shelter for survivors of domestic abuse.”
In an interview with IndieWire during the Sundance Film Festival, Eisenberg told about directing a film and anxiety while making it. he told, “All of my plays take place in a living room.” Eisenberg added, “This one couldn’t because I wanted to show what it looks like inside a domestic violence shelter to show the complexity of working in the social services sector. And all of that stuff seemed to lend itself to what I thought an original movie could be.”
The film stars Julianne Moore as Evelyn Katz, Finn Wolfhard as Ziggy Katz, Alisha Boe as Lila, Jay O. Sanders as Roger Katz, Billy Bryk as Kyle, and Eleonore Hendricks as Angie.
When You Finish Saving the World will hit theaters on January 20, 2023.
