French Horror Film Pandemonium Makes it’s US Premiere at Screamfest

The macabre horror film Pandemonium is set to make its US premiere at the upcoming Screamfest LA on October 14th, after originally premiering at Neuchâtel and garnering acclaim at international festivals including Fantasia, Frightfest, Sitges, Grimmfest, and Trieste. Directed by Quarxx, Pandemonium is a multi-layered existential fantasy topped with signature notes of visceral horror, disturbing fairy tales, wry comedy, and dark thriller.

The film follows Nathan (Hugo Dillon), an ordinary man on a journey he never expected. After realizing he has died at the scene of a car crash, Nathan descends into the depths of hell, where he is doomed to experience the pain of tortured souls along the way.

Drawing direct inspiration from Dante’s Inferno and Milton’s Paradise Lost, Pandemonium reimagines the allegorical descent into hell with a macabre tone. The film’s twisted vision of the underworld circles and torments evokes Dante’s epic poem, while the themes of morality, temptation, and the fallen state of man are reminiscent of Milton’s legendary work. These literary influences shape the imaginative, nightmarish setting and philosophical undertones.
