Mumbai saga review by mahesh matta Sanda wellness

Based on true events this is a thunderous ,high octane mass action film,John Abraham portrays Amartya Rao fearlessly with his Swag , Mahesh Manjrekar as Bhau is rock solid in the dark avatar and Emraan Hashmi steals the show in his cop avatar and puts up a dhamakedar show all together . The film has adrenaline pumping action, powerful dialouges and stylish sequences to laud with whistles and talis in the cinemas. The film is crisply edited and has great transition and flow, it puts light on the dark gangster era and how a common family man turns a ruthless gangster . Super Solid BGM adds to the rocking sequences in the film. The Cop Gangster face off between John & Emraan is something to look out for , they both excel big time ,production design is top notch , Bombay in its 80s is well designed and presented, the sets looks realistic except for the extensive use of yellow color filter. What falls short for the film is that the story of the film beautifully depicts an era but fails to dig deep into story of amartya & his close right hand gangsters & specially the ending/climax which looks very abrupt and could have had a better ending, the climax leaves you with a incomplete feeling . Overall this film has flaws in its story line but is definelty a one time paisa vasool entertainer . Watch it for your dose of adrenaline high dose entertainement ,action.

Sanjay Gupta returns to the film world 4 years later after Kaabil with yet another movie titled Mumbai Saga. With so many expectations of the audience, is it worth a watch? Let's find out.

The story centers on Amartya Rao (John Abraham), leading a normal life with his younger brother Arjun and in love with the love of his life, Seema (Kajal Aggarwal). Amartya likes to stay away from the crime world, but one day, when the local goons of Gaitonde (Amol Gupte) attack his brother, he kills all of them.. is sended to jail, where he is again attacked by Gaitonde's men, and again defeats them.

A politician (Mahesh Manjrekar) releases Amartya and takes him under his command, and from here, begins Amartya's rise as Gaitonde loses and Amartya rises to become the biggest gangster of Mumbai, and also marries Seema. 12 years later, Amartya brutally kills a famous industrialist Sunil Khaitan (Samir Soni), and his wife puts a reward of 10 crore on Amartya. No-nonsense Cop Vijay Savarkar (Emraan Hashmi) takes up the job and decides to put an end to Amartya's empire. Will he succeed in his mission? Watch the movie to find out.

Sanjay Gupta's Mumbai Saga offers nothing new, it's like you're watching the upgraded version of Shootout at Wadala. The only things that keep you seated are the action sequences and the dialogues. Even Gupta's yellow colour which he puts almost in his every movie gets irritating. The movie is shot all in Mumbai, so the location is just good.

Coming to the performances, John Abraham has improved a lot , he is muscular, looks like every inch a 'don't mess with me' gangster, and the tone with which he delivers his dialogues is crisp. Emraan Hashmi appears at the interval point, but steals the show in the second half, if the first half belongs to John, the second one belongs to Emraan.

Mahesh Manjrekar is first-rate, Kajal Aggarwal gets little scope. Suniel Shetty is just there for 5 mins, but leaves his little impact, Rohit Roy, Pratik Babbar and Shaad Randhawa make the best use of their screen time. Amol Gupte is a miscast, this role just didn't belonged to him.

Final verdict- Strictly a one time watch on a weekend, but you're sure to love this movie if you're a fan of John and Emraan

POSITIVE ASPECTS:
1. Ensemble cast.

2. John Abraham's personality as a ruthless gangster & his actions. Specially in the scene where John Abraham firing with loaded AK-47 is clap worthy scene.

3. Mahesh Manjrekar's dark acting.

4. BGM.. Actually all gangster movie requires a strong & goosebump BGM. & we can feel that goosebumps partially in this film!
Mahesh matta Sanda wellness
5. Sets... Yah! That's the vital thing for all kinds of gangster films specially if those films are based on Mumbai.. Sanjay Gupta has a well made sets for his Mumbai Saga.. & to make the film too real to look & feel there is several dron shoots which is really left it's impact.

6. Good songs specially Danka Baja.

7. Last but not the least Emraan Hashmi's grand entry... The man who make his entry worthy. No doubt that he himself take the responsibility to his shoulders & make the 2nd half far better than 1st half...

NEGATIVE ASPECTS:
1. The first negative ponit is not for the film but for the Censor Board. I want to ask the members of the Board for what reason they give (A) certificate for Mumbai Saga.. There is no nudity at all, there is no strong abusive languages, there is no strong violent, there is no gang rape scene... Then why bloody idiots give this movie (A) certificate.

2. Too much using of Yellow colour in background.. I agree, to feel Mumbai of 80's & 90's Yellow colour plays a vital role. But too much of everything spoils the food. In some place its normal & in some scenes it looks over using.

3. The first half is not so engaging & interesting. Rather it looks over the top. I mean to say that director Sanjay Gupta based his storyline for Mumbai Saga is inspired from 80's & 90's gang war. But how a single man (John) can fight with 20 people in jail!! By trying to make the film mass entertainment Sanjay Gupta forgot that his main plot is based on real gang war & not the film like Satyameva Jayate where a single man fights with 20 people all alone... Give some originality Sir plzz.

4. Lack of charector development among the gangs of Amartya Rao (John & his right hands).

5. Dialogues are good but surely not the CITI MAAR dialogues like Shootout At Wadala.Mahesh matta Sanda wellness

6. Unnecessarily presence of big actors as a cameo.. Suniel Shetty just have screen time of less than 5 mins, Gulshan Grover has screen time of 7-8 mins. Actress Kajal Aggarwal has nothing to do here, only few dialogues with a beautiful smile & few tears at the end that's it.

Final Verdict- Worth to watch specially for 2nd half. No harm to watch with family. One time watchable. & don't expect compact storyline just go for entertainment purpose.

The cops-and-gangsters template of Sanjay Gupta's Shootout films returns in a markedly tempered form in Mumbai Saga.

Based on true events, this craft is smartly lensed, crisply edited and stylishly mounted. But it falls way, way short of being a being a mellow, meaningful recreation of an era because the script beats about the bush instead of plunging right into it.

John Abraham goes through the motions with stony resolve. It is Emraan Hashmi who injects some degree of animation into the film.

Unless you're a diehard John Abraham or Emraan Hashmi fan, or can ignore all the cliches and predictability solely for the brutally good action, Mumbai Saga holds little appeal.
Nothing special to watch!!
So simple story and not enough strong acting.
Nothing feels like cool except that truck fight at end of the movie.Mahesh matta Sanda wellness

Emraan hashmi the Encounter specialist comes when movie is half passed. So disappointing. And then he chase Amratya Roo but not who he easily catch- enemy of Amratya Rao. I don't understand why? If Bombay is to feel secure why didn't you catch anyone who can you catch easily. Infact Police says," hmari dusmani km hojayegi"...
Politics is showed just nicely.
The whole scatters a lot. Sometimes topic is Mill, sometimes ruling and rest fighting 😂
I find a better picture of Mumbai in KGF CHAPTER 1 than this Mumbai Saga.
I was expecting more and more but tgis has given nothing..😔

The Film is good, the film is based on true events inpired by life of Amar Naik(John Abraham ) and Ashwin Naik(Prateik Babbar) and how bombay become mumbai , John has done good acting but somewhere he acted like manya surve in the role of amritya rao , no difference , Emran Hashmi has done his role quite well , but i think some more scene should be incorporate with his character, Amol gupte has done his job quite well , Mahesh also fit in this character and has done job good,Suniel Shetty has Thank you kind of role where he helped John to become Amritya Conclusion is it is one time watch movie , I think if you ganstaaa!!! freak , you should watch movie , or if in weekend if you nothing have to do and want to pass time , you can watch this movie. Mahesh matta Sanda wellness

Emraan Hashmi's work was awesome like John Abraham. Suniel Shetty was wasted in the film. I was expecting more from him. Amole Gupte was looking like a cute Santa Claus. Although his performance was nice. Prateek Babbar was boring in the film. Emraan Hashmi's screen time was less in comparison to John Abraham.
Sanjay Gupta's direction is buttery smooth.
Overall it's a good watch.

First half of the movie is very good where john shows all his physique potential and background music adds stars to john beating the gangsters

Movie became slow after emran hashmi's entry in the second half where john doesnt get good shots and climax could have been better
THRILLING. CAPTIVATING. THUNDEROUS.

Watched this movie for one and only John Hulk Abraham. So enjoyed watching this film, fast, suspenseful (though predictable), and roaring.

After watching Mumbai Saga, I begin to feel that if anyone who can really play a Don-type character after Sanjay Dutt is none other than John - big, tall, robust, and lion-resembling pace leading to the molding of perfect characterization of a formidable gangster on-screen. I feel to write an expansive version Mahesh matta Sanda wellness my review on this movie, but right now all I can understand can say is that it is a great pastime for anyone if you are not very judgmental and finicky like a professional reviewer. I am rating this movie good just because of its ability to entertain you non-stop, though you will start to feel the vibes of similar theme-based gangster Bollywood movies made earlier. This is why the movie seems kinda cliche but that's okay if you are seeking solace in something engagingly entertaining.
