IIT-Bombay Graduate Sets New Record With INR 3.7 Crore International Job Offer

In a remarkable feat of achievement, an alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-Bombay), has secured an international job offer with a staggering annual package of ₹3.7 crore. The groundbreaking news was unveiled during the institute’s recently concluded annual placement drive, making it the highest-ever international job offer recorded in the history of IIT-Bombay.

In an official statement released by IIT-Bombay, it was revealed that another student from the institute also secured a substantial domestic job offer at ₹1.7 crore per year. These remarkable offers mark a significant increase compared to the previous year’s international offer of ₹2.1 crore, while the domestic offer for the previous year stood at ₹1.8 crore annually.

To protect the privacy of the students, the institute has refrained from disclosing the identities of the recipients of these extraordinary job offers.

The achievement does not end there. Sixteen IIT-Bombay students clinched job offers with annual salaries exceeding ₹1 crore, further showcasing the institution’s prowess in producing top-tier talent. Additionally, a remarkable 194 out of 300 pre-placement offers were accepted, as reported by the institute in its official release on the 2022-23 placements.

This year’s campus placement period, which spanned from July 2022 to June 2023, saw a record-breaking 2,174 registered students, with an astounding 1,845 actively participating in placements, marking the highest participation rate in the institute’s history.

IIT-Bombay’s students garnered 65 overseas job offers from organizations with offices located in prominent global hubs such as the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. In a remarkable improvement from previous years, the average package offered during the 2022-2023 placement season was ₹21.82 lakh per year, as compared to ₹21.50 lakh per year and ₹17.91 lakh per year during the 2021-2022 and 2020-2021 placement seasons, respectively.

The field of engineering and technology saw the highest number of placements, with 458 students securing entry-level positions across 97 key engineering companies. In contrast to the previous year, fewer students were absorbed in the information technology and software sectors; however, 302 students received job offers from more than 88 companies in the IT/software sector. The financial sector also played a significant role, with 32 financial service companies offering 76 vacancies. High demand was observed in roles related to product management, mobility, data science, analytics, and education.

In summary, the 2022-23 placement drive at IIT-Bombay achieved a resounding success, with 82 percent of actively participating students successfully securing employment. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that nearly 90 percent of students pursuing BTech, dual-degree, and MTech programs managed to secure coveted job offers.
