10 Family Shows Like ‘Parenthood’ To Watch If You Miss the Series

Parenthood is definitely one of the most heartwarming shows about a Family you could watch. The brilliant NBC series based on a comedy-drama movie of the same name by Ron Howard follows the multigenerational Braverman family living in California, struggling with all kinds of problems including marital issues, substance abuse problems, and the biggest struggle of all parenthood. We saw the Braverman family for six great seasons ending its run in 2015. So, if you miss the series here are some shows you could watch next.

This Is Us (Hulu & Fubo TV)

Synopsis: A multi-ethnic family with a mix of foster and biological kids are being raised by two moms. Stef Foster, a dedicated police officer, and her partner Lena Adams, a school Vice Principal, have built a strong family with Stef’s biological son from a previous marriage, Brandon, and their adopted twins, Mariana and Jesus. Their lives are turned upside down when Lina meets Callie, a teen with an abusive past who has spent her life in foster homes. Lena and Stef decide to welcome Callie into their home thinking it will be temporary.

Modern Family is one of the longest-running sitcoms and it follows the Dunphy and Pritchett family. The series is a mockumentary-style comedy and it follows Jay Pritchett (Ed O’Neill), his new wife Gloria (Sofia Vergara), his stepson Manny (Rico Rodriguez), and his daughters family Claire Dunphy (Julie Bowen), her husband and the best father Phil Dunphy (Ty Burrell), their children Haley (Sarah Hyland), Alex (Ariel Winter), and Luke (Nolan Gould). The series also follows Jay’s son Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson), his husband Cameron (Eric Stonestreet), and their adopted daughter Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons). Modern Family ran for 11 seasons ending with a banger of a finale in 2020.

A Million Little Things (Hulu)

Synopsis: Switched at Birth tells the story of two teenage girls who discover they were accidentally switched as newborns in the hospital. Things come to a dramatic head when the families meet and struggle to learn how to live together for the sake of the girls. Life Unexpected (Paramount+)

Synopsis: After 15 years of being with different families in Oregon’s foster-care system, Lux decides to try her luck as an emancipated minor. As she navigates the legal system in pursuit of that goal, she encounters her birth father, bar owner Nate “Baze” Bazile, living like an aging frat boy with two slacker roommates. He is stunned to learn that he has a teenage daughter and introduces Lux to her mother, radio personality Cate Cassidy, who is sad to learn her daughter has grown up in foster care but thrilled to meet and get to know the girl. She has plenty of opportunity to get acquainted when the judge decides Lux isn’t ready to be emancipated and grants temporary custody to her birth parents.
