2022 is about to end and this year has proven to be one of the best years for the action movie genre ever with thrilling entries like The Batman and The Northman, 2022 has given us many great action films we can look back on years from now. So, today CinemaBlind is listing the best action movies that came out in 2022 in no particular order.

Ambulance (Prime Video)

Synopsis: In this action thriller directed by Michael Bay, veteran Will Sharp (Yahya Abdul – Mateen II, Candyman), desperate for money, turns to his adoptive brother Danny (Jake Gyllenhaal, End of Watch) for help. A career criminal, Danny instead offers him a huge score. But when their heist goes awry, the desperate brothers hijack an ambulance with a wounded cop and EMT (Eiza González, Baby Driver) onboard. Will and Danny must evade a city – wide law enforcement response, keep their hostages alive, and somehow try not to kill each other, all while executing the most insane escape LA has ever seen.

RRR (Netflix)

Synopsis: In 1920, fate brings together two revolutionaries fighting their individual battles against the British empire far away from home.

Avatar: The Way of Water (In Theaters)

Synopsis: Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure. Directed by James Cameron and produced by Cameron and Jon Landau, the film stars Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement and Kate Winslet.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (Coming Soon to Disney+)

Synopsis: Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.

The Batman (Prime Video & HBO Max)

Synopsis: Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman, striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. The Northman (Prime Video)

Synopsis: From visionary director Robert Eggers comes The Northman, an action-filled epic that follows a young Viking prince on his quest to avenge his father’s murder. With an all-star cast that includes Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, Björk, and Willem Dafoe.

The Lost City (Paramount+)

Synopsis: Brilliant, but reclusive author Loretta Sage (Sandra Bullock) has spent her career writing about exotic places in her popular romance-adventure novels featuring handsome cover model Alan (Channing Tatum), who has dedicated his life to embodying the hero character, “Dash.” While on tour promoting her new book with Alan, Loretta is kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire (Daniel Radcliffe) who hopes that she can lead him to the ancient lost city’s treasure from her latest story. Wanting to prove that he can be a hero in real life and not just on the pages of her books, Alan sets off to rescue her. Thrust into an epic jungle adventure, the unlikely pair will need to work together to survive the elements and find the ancient treasure before it’s lost forever.

The Gray Man (Netflix)

Synopsis: The Gray Man is CIA operative Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling), aka, Sierra Six. Plucked from a federal penitentiary and recruited by his handler, Donald Fitzroy (Billy Bob Thornton), Gentry was once a highly-skilled, Agency-sanctioned merchant of death. But now the tables have turned and Six is the target, hunted across the globe by Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans), a former cohort at the CIA, who will stop at nothing to take him out. Agent Dani Miranda (Ana de Armas) has his back. He’ll need it.

Everything Everywhere All At Once (Paramount+)

Synopsis: Directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, collectively known as Daniels, the film is a hilarious and big-hearted sci-fi action adventure about an exhausted Chinese American woman (Michelle Yeoh) who can’t seem to finish her taxes.

Top Gun: Maverick (Paramount+)

Synopsis: After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Prey (Hulu)

Synopsis: The newest entry in the “Predator” franchise, 20th Century Studios’ “Prey” is an all-new action thriller set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago. It is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior who has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains. So when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

Bullet Train (Netflix)

Synopsis: In Bullet Train, Brad Pitt stars as Ladybug, an unlucky assassin determined to do his job peacefully after one too many gigs gone off the rails. Fate, however, may have other plans, as Ladybug’s latest mission puts him on a collision course with lethal adversaries from around the globe – all with connected, yet conflicting, objectives – on the world’s fastest train…and he’s got to figure out how to get off. From the director of Deadpool 2, David Leitch, the end of the line is only the beginning in a wild, non-stop thrill ride through modern-day Japan.

An Action Hero (Not Streaming Yet)

Synopsis: Youth Icon! Superstar! Action Hero! This was a reputation Maanav had earned for himself. He earned it with his hard work, diligence & filming day in and day out. Maanav was just a little kid when his parents migrated back to India from London. He got a lot of love from the country he grew up in but his heart still found peace back in the country he was born in. Maanav had become so successful that there wasn’t any brand in the country that didn’t want to associate with him. There wasn’t any household without his fan, wasn’t any city that didn’t screen his films. A very simple-minded guy with just one little hobby. Cars! Cars were his weakness as well as his strength. At the age of just 30, he wasn’t short of fame or work. He was at the peak of his career when he accidentally causes death to a boy while filming in Haryana. The boy who died was Vicky Solanki, younger brother of Bhoora the municipal councillor of village Mandothi. Vicky was known to be quite notorious and was his brother’s utmost favourite.

Vicky got into an argument with Manav while being drunk. The argument got so heated up that it went onto becoming a physical fight. When things started to go south it ended up taking Vicky’s life and Manav’s… everything! Maanav in order to safeguard himself, makes a run for it and travels back to U.K to fight his case. Investigations began and the media started pointing fingers at Maanav. The whole country tuned in to watch news about the now infamous celebrity. It almost started to look as if it were a festival of some sort. Just the one news, one name & one topic blasting on the screens the whole day. Hiding from media, fans, activists, police, or the whole country, Bhoora manages to follow Maanav to take revenge. Oblivious to the fact that there was a third party who also wanted Manav just as much as Bhoora himself. And when three Indians meet up in an unknown country, the fight begins! For Revenge! A fight to stay alive that further turns out into something much larger. Then begins the assessment for an individual’s Karma. In better words, then begins the ACTION!
