All Creatures Great and Small is one of the most comforting series ever made. The British series All Creatures Great and Small is set in the 1930s and it follows James Herriot (Nicholas Ralph), a Glasgow resident who moves to the beautiful village of Yorkshire Dales in order to find veterinary work. After moving to Yorkshire he joins Siegfried Harnon (Samuel West) in his medical practice and begins healing the animals of the town. The PBS series is based on book series of the same name written by James Alfred Wright, who wrote the books based on his own experience which he had while working as a vet in Yorkshire, England. The PBS series is the latest adaptation of the source material and it was renewed for a fourth season in advance in case you were worried about the future of the series. All Creatures Great and Small (1978)
Synopsis: In 1937, a young, newly-qualified veterinarian surgeon, James Herriot arrives in the picturesque village of Darrowby to take up his first job in the established veterinary practice of Sigfried and Tristan Farnon. But in rural Yorkshire, with few medicines available, the treatment of sick animals still seems to be rooted in the Dark Ages. This, together with the country-folk’s inherent suspicion of strangers, poses problems for James Herriot in the early years of his career.

The Durrells in Corfu
Synopsis: Keeley Hawes (Upstairs Downstairs) stars as an intrepid widow who decamps from dreary England to a sun-dappled Greek island with her four recalcitrant children, ages 11 to 21, on this adaptation of Gerald Durrell’s My Family and Other Animals and its two sequels. Alongside Hawes’ matriarch Louisa Durrell are eldest son, Larry (Josh O’Connor), a budding writer on his way to becoming the famous novelist Lawrence Durrell; son number two, Leslie (Callum Woodhouse), an impulsive firearms enthusiast; daughter Margo (Daisy Waterstone), sixteen and man-crazy; and eleven-year-old Gerry (Milo Parker), who only has eyes for wildlife and grew up to be a world-renowned naturalist.
