Be a better artist?

How about I simply am an Artist. Yes, my art is improving. I find my work more interesting and reflective of how nature makes me feel. From the layers to the Hello gorgeous, I’m not thinking about my work getting better or if it’s good or bad. I work, I play and that’s all. I paint! Oh, but something happens after I Paint.

Many times it is peaceful, I don’t know where that came from but I love it! This blue vase was a beautiful arrangement but I didn’t have the nerve to add it to my shop. Sometimes I wonder what if I share, I mean really share my work and someone hates it? It would be like saying they have a problem with me. You know what I don’t care. I used to but writing these words makes me realize how silly this.

I’m thinking of one of my art students. We discussed Diego Rivera’s Flower Vendor. Then we used simple shapes to sketch a design with a white crayon. I gave her a palette with shades of white, brown, orange, yellow, green, and blue. Then I said, “Observe what you see and paint it.” Her painting was filled with beautiful swatches of aqua and sage green. The color she mixed was amazing. She wasn’t worried thinking, my flowers don’t look like Diego’s. I don’t even have flowers. Moving forward with my art, I shouldn’t care either. I have been in love with peach and pink tones. I’ll keep painting like the girl who knows she’s an artist and will paint what she wants when she wants.

Siempre,

Mireya
