There’s no right way to paint a flower year in review

It’s my birthday! It’s my birthday! Dance with me.

This summer I wanted to reflect on what I want and expect from my art. I came across the Anthropologie About page and I have been dreaming ever since. These are the words that are absolutely me!

We take pride in our connection with individuals who prioritize, self expression and pursue inspiration and knowledge and experience in the spirit of boundless curiosity.

Hue is color, and nature is colorful. We are colorful. We are nature. So Creatively Hue is about curiosity, creativity, and prioritizing self-expression. My painting belief is that there is no right way to paint a flower. I spent the entire summer exploring and I’m painting like I’ve never painted before! On this birthday I am embracing all of my work. All the hits and the misses are my work. I am proud of my work! Here’s a list of ideas and words that I have learned this year.

  1. Use the paint you have. Up until now, I kept collecting paint. Why? I need to save money. What was I saving paint for? Paint is for painting. Right?
  2. Obsessing about something is an avoidance of hard work and vulnerability. No matter what the job is, I do my best. Sometimes I obsess about little details. That obsession delays my art and doing the actual best part.
  3. There’s no right way to paint a flower. Having this expectation of myself means that I can explore tools. I can paint corn husks and layer them on a canvas to form the petals of a flower. That thought just came to me but why not?
  4. A journal is your best friend. There is no right and no wrong which means I can play because there’s no right way to paint a flower. I chose the main flower arrangement for this post because the expressive style, color, and mixed media tools show how I blossomed and continue to grow.
  5. If you believe in your work, invest in it. This year I purchased a computer, scanner, and tripod. I also purchased a course. Now that I have my goods, it’s time to work and play.
  6. If you don’t know how to do something, do it anyway. One of the tools I purchased was a $60 tripod to help me record videos. I have no idea what I’m doing. Yet, I have fun using the remote to adjust the lighting and watching the replay of my videos. I want to share my work and it feels good to experiment. My only goal is to be myself. I want to share the thoughts that cross my mind as I create.
  7. Share your work and share it often. I like sharing my work. I like going for walks and sharing the beautiful nature. Maybe I’ll do that today. There was a time when I worried about not looking professional or what would people say. It’s crazy, I know. No, I am learning and growing. I literally tell myself, If you are enjoying yourself then good. Be you. They can like it or leave it. I’ve been allowing comments and they’ve been kind. Thank you.

Thank you for reading! What lessons has your art taught you? Have you been learning from me? Comment below.

Siempre,

Mireya
