CHILDREN OF THE CORN Trailer

Another remake is on the way, this time Stephen King’s Children of the Corn. There have been a couple of versions of it already, probably best known is the 1984 version with Linda Hamilton.

This new version, it’s been written and directed by Kurt Wimmer, best known for Equilibrium. Suddenly, that gives it a little credibility. Here’s the trailer.

Personally, I don’t see this as all that scary, I mean, the kids aren’t the best. That main girl, who’s been gender-swapped from the original, doesn’t give off any creepy vibe. I would say that a good clip around the ear would set back on the straight and narrow.

Children of the Corn got a limited release in 2020, since it was one of those movies that didn’t have to shut down during the first lockdown.

The synopsis for the movie is:

…the events leading up to, and including, the massacre of the adults of a small town in Nebraska by their children, after the adults’ irresponsibility ruins the crop and the children’s future.

Possessed by a spirit in a dying cornfield, a twelve-year-old girl in Nebraska recruits the other children in her small town to go on a bloody rampage and kill all the adults and anyone else who opposes her. A bright high schooler who won’t go along with the plan is the town’s only hope of survival.

Shudder and RLJE Films have now bought the rights to the Children of the Corn and will be giving it a theatrical release on 3rd March and then head to streaming on 21st March.

Who’s playing that banjo?
