First Look: WHITE MEN CAN’T JUMP Remake

20th Century Studios have released a first look at their upcoming Remake of White Men Can’t Jump.

The original starred Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson as a pair of street basketball hustlers. Harrelson’s character is a former pro basketball player, and working with Snipes they use the black perception of his skin color and basketball ability to con money off other street players who challenge them.

This time around Sinqua Walls (Friday Night Lights) and rapper Jack Harlow take on the roles.

The plot specifics are supposedly under wraps but, seriously, how different can it be. It remains essentially the same premise, as we see in this first look video set to Skee-Lo’s I Wish.

The new version of White Men Can’t Jump will premier directly on Hulu on May 19th.

Lance Reddick, Teyana Taylor, Laura Harrier, and Vince Staples co-star. House Party remake director Calmatic (Charles Kidd II) is the director, continuing his move from rap videosa into features. Black-ish creator Kenya Barris writes alongside Doug Hall, with Barris producing. Blake Griffin, Ryan Kalil, and Noah Weinstein executive produce.

The original had a soundtrack that included BoyzIIMen and Queen Latifah among the artists. This time around White Men Can’t Jump will feature a soundtrack by DJ Drama. The original grossed nearly $100 million worldwide to become the 16th highest grossing movie of 1992. It was a known favorite movie of filmmaker Stanley Kubrick.
