Jason Momoa recently met with DC Studio heads James Gunn and Peter Safran to talk about his future in the DCU as Aquaman. Momoa said of the meeting: 

“It’s very, very wonderful. I’m in the house of Warner Bros. and they are liking a lot of stuff I’m doing. We got a lot of good things coming.”

Also, in a recent video posted to his Instagram, Momoa in his usual over-the-top style proclaims:

“Great news with Warner Brothers. Amazing! Wish I could tell you, but here it is! Peter, I love you. James, I love you… To the future, to the future.”

Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom is set for a December 2023 release and Momoa has a right to feel confident because Aquaman was the only DCEU film to break $1 billion at the box office. It was directed by James Wan, a long-time producing partner of newly minted DC Films co-head Peter Safran.

Talking about Aquadude 2, Jason says:

“The beautiful thing [about ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’] is me and my partner wrote the first treatment for it and it was about a 55-page treatment, and a lot of it has to deal with me talking to the U.N. about what’s happening with the melting ice caps.

There’s no far-off galaxy coming to destroy us or aliens from another place. It’s us ruining our planet. We need to get it together and save our home.”

Momoa concluded:

“I’ll always be Aquaman. Ain’t anyone coming in there and taking shit. There might be some other characters, too. I can play other things, too. I can be funny and savage and charming.”

WTF DCU?

There are also rumors that Momoa could be playing Lobo in the new DCU under Gunn and Safran. Momoa would not confirm the rumors, but he did say there might be other characters coming from him down the line regarding DC.

Another rumour early this month suggested that total freak show, Ezra Miller may stay on as The Flash. So with Momoa hinting at his continuation as Aquaman, Henry Cavill’s bollocks must be aching like crazy this morning, having just been toe punted in them yet again! WTF is going on with the DCU and why do they seemingly hate Cavill?
