LAMBORGHINI Trailer

The man behind Lamborghini, that car brand that adorned posters on the bedroom walls of millions of boys worldwide, is getting a biopic. The official trailer has been released for Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend, which gets a selected theatres release with on-demand and digital on November 18th.

The 1980s in one poster

Frank Grillo stars Ferruccio Lamborghini, who formed a longtime rivalry with Enzo Ferrari (Gabriel Byrne). Lamborghini started as a manufacturer of farm tractors and Ferrari, to this day, disparagingly refer to Lamborghini as the “Tractor Makers”.

The Movie will follow Ferruccio aiming for the Geneva Grand Prix as a chance to go head-to-head with Ferrari. Romano Reggiani, Matteo Leoni, Hannah van der Westhuysen, Giovanni Antonacci, Fortunato Cerlino, Eliana Jones, and Mira Sorvino co-star.

Crash writer Bobby Moresco directs the movie with Andrea Iervolino, Lady Monika Bacardi, Danielle Maloni, and Allen Dam producing.

Automobili Ferruccio Lamborghini S.p.A. was founded from the tractor company in 1963. Lamborghini grew rapidly during its first decade but then the thirsty sports car sales were hit in the 1973 worldwide financial downturn and the oil crisis.

The firm rapidly changed hands several times and eventually filed for bankruptcy before 1987 when the American Chrysler Corporation took control. American automotive companies struggled to understand the finer points of supercar performance engineering and they eventually gave up, selling to Malaysian investment group Mycom Setdco and Indonesian group V’Power Corporation in 1994.

A modern Lamborghini

In 1998 Lamborghini was sold to the Volkswagen Group where it was placed under the control of the group’s Audi division. Here it flourished with German efficiency and engineering prowess working perfectly alongside Italian passion. The cars became significantly less bonkers and considerably more reliable as new products and model lines were introduced to the brand’s portfolio and productivity increased.

Today Lamborghini sits proudly in the supercar and hypercar category, still under the ownership of Volkswagen. The company also produces V12 engines for offshore powerboat racing.

Lamborghini Trattori in Italy still makes tractors.
