Jodie Whittaker’s final Doctor Who episode will be shown next month The 90-minute special The Power of the Doctor will be her last turn in the role and will feature the characters regeneration into the 14th incarnation of the Doctor in the form of Ncuti Gatwa, with showrunner Russell T Davies also returning.

She has spoken to Empire about filming her final scene for Doctor Who, the regeneration as is traditional for when an actor leaves the role. She says they were emotionally charged:
“I love the dialogue [showrunner Chris Chibnall] wrote for my regeneration. It captures my Doctor beautifully. It’s simple, epic and beautiful.
When I could see the crew was happy with that last shot, that’s when my bottom lip started going. I was like, ‘Well, they can’t say they need another take now because I’ve f—ing lost it!’”
Whittaker says the episode is designed for fans of the classic show:
“It’s one for the Whovians. It’s a huge treat if you’re a proper fan. It’s got all the iconic things that you associate with Doctor Who. It’s massive.”
Doctor Who will be a central part of the BBCs centenary celebrations and this special will air during that week. It has been confirmed that The Master (Sacha Dhawan), the Daleks, and the Cyberman all return, as do former companions Ace (Sophie Aldred) and Tegan (Janet Fielding). Apparently there are also a few surprises in store.
It will be all change for the whole show this time around as both Yaz (Mandip Gill) and Dan (John Bishop) have filmed their final episodes, and Doctor Who’s current composer Segun Akinola also announced he’d be leaving with Whittaker and showrunner Chibnall.
