THE FALL GUY Builds Cast

Well, he’s not the kind to kiss and tell, but he’s been seen with Farrah. He’s never been with anything less than a nine, so fine. Why can’t he just have a few beers and have a go on a solid six like the rest of us? Because he’s Colt Seavers, The Fall Guy.

Now Emily Blunt is set to co-star opposite Ryan Gosling in a remake Movie. This will be from Bullet Train director David Leitch and is set up at Universal Pictures and 87North. Production begins in Sydney, Australia later this year.

The original The Fall Guy was an American action/adventure television series produced for ABC. It was originally broadcast from November 4, 1981, to May 2, 1986. It was part of that epic era of television that would go on to include The A-Team, Knight Rider and Airwolf.

Lee Majors, Douglas Barr and Heather Thomas all starred in the original series. Majors played Seavers, a Hollywood stunt man who moonlights as a bounty hunter. He would frequently use his physical skills and knowledge of stunt effects to track and capture criminal. His speciality was stunts involving cars, and his large GMC pickup truck would often come into play.

The truck, a Rounded-Line 1981 GMC K-2500 Wideside with the Sierra Grande equipment level package, was practically a character in the show.

He was partnered by his cousin and stuntman-in-training Howie Munson (Barr) and occasionally by fellow stuntwoman Jody Banks (Thomas). Before Baywatch, there was Heather Thomas in The Fall Guy, and that’s all a young boy at the time needed to know.

In between performing stunts on movies and TV shows, the the bounty hunters would find themselves up against swindlers, thieves, biker gangs, conmen, fugitives and corrupt officials.

The show was such a hit at the time that a board game adaptation based on the show was released by the Milton Bradley Company in 1981. A comic strip adaptation was drawn by Jim Baikie for the UK’s Look-In magazine and there was even a video game adaptation produced by British video game developer Elite Systems in 1984.

Way back in 2010 a film based on the series was in development. DreamWorks had teamed up with producers Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald on the project with Martin Campbell in talks to direct. In September 2013, Dwayne Johnson was in negotiations to play the title role and McG was in talks to direct. That movie never materialised.

Leitch will direct from a script by his Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw writing partner Drew Pearce.

Gosling, Kelly McCormick and Guymon Casady are in as producers with The Fall Guy aiming to release on March 1st 2024.
