The first seven episodes of “Gyeongseong Creature,” a Netflix historical thriller starring Park Seo-joon and Han So-hee, is now streaming. Three more episodes will be available on January 5.

The story of “Gyeongseong Creature” takes place in the spring of 1945 at Ongseong Hospital in Gyeongseong (now Seoul), Korea. It follows an entrepreneur and a sleuth trying to fight for survival during the tailend of the Japanese occupation of Korea. Against the backdrop of patriotic Koreans’ struggle for independence, the pair faces a creature born from human greed.

Park Seo-joon of “Itaewon Class,” “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim,” and “The Marvels,” plays the role of Jang Tae-sang. He is the owner of the House of Golden Treasure pawnshop and the area’s information king. Attractive and confident, Tae-sang is also the wealthiest and most well-connected person in Gyeongseong.

Meanwhile, Han So-hee of “Nevertheless,” “My Name,” and “The World of the Married” is Yoon Chae-ok. She is a relentless sleuth — an expert in finding missing persons. Chae-ok goes to Gyeongseong in search of her mother and crosses paths with Tae-sang.

In his dire need to locate the commissioner’s missing mistress before the cherry blossoms wither, Tae-sang, despite his unpleasant first meeting with Chae-ok, convinces her to work with him. Together with Chae-ok’ father, played by Cho Han-cheul of “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” and “Vincenzo,” they agree on a mutually beneficial mission. They penetrate the mysterious and now-barricaded Ongseong Hospital, where dark secrets unfold. Their investigation pits them against Gyeongseong’s powerful forces engaged in sinister ventures.
