It’s a brand new year and if you’re just like us whose resolution is to work hard and binge harder, then these 2023 K-dramas list is just for you. We’ve got all of the most awaited Korean series this year. Part 1 of our list are the new dramas that we are getting, and boy are they plenty! So without further ado, go and list down these 2023 K-dramas.

Crash Course in Romance (Netflix)

Cast: Jeon Do-yeon, Jung Kyung-ho
When: Jan. 14
Plot: “Crash Course in Romance” is a romantic comedy that follows the relationship between a national athlete turned side dish shop owner and a cram school instructor.
Why we’re excited: We’re seeing another side to Queen of Cannes Jeon Do-yeon who we often see in serious drama roles. Jung Kyung-ho is of course a natural comedian and we love to see a middle-aged romance for a change.

Kokdu: Season of Deity

When: Jan. 27
Cast: Im Soo-hyang, Kim Jung-hyun
Plot: Kokdu (Kim Jung-hyun) is a grim reaper who comes down to punish humans every 99 years. He meets Han Gye-jeol (Im Soo-hyang), a doctor with mysterious abilities.
Why we’re excited: We’re happy to see the talented Kim Jung-hyun back who we last saw in the K-drama “Mr. Queen.”

Our Blooming Youth

When: Feb. 6
Cast: Park Hyung-sik, Jeon So-nee
Plot: “Our Blooming Youth” tells the story of a crown prince who is suffering from a mysterious curse and a woman who is falsely accused of murdering her family.
Why we’re excited: Park Hyung-sik in another period drama. Need we say more?

Gyeongseong Creature (Netflix)

When: TBA
Cast: Park Seo-joon, Han So-hee, Wi Ha-joon
Plot: This drama is set in 1945 in old Seoul (formerly known as Gyeongseong) about two people who battle against a strange creature to survive.
Why we’re excited: It’s Park Seo-joon’s much-awaited return to K-drama. We’re also looking forward to the story as it’s a period drama set during the Japanese rule over Korea. “Gyeongseong Creature” with its cast and intriguing plot is surely one of the most anticipated among the 2023 K-dramas.

Ask the Stars

When: TBA
Cast: Lee Min-ho, Gong Hyo-jin
Plot: This drama is set in space about the romance between a Korean-American astronaut (Gong Hyo-jin) and a doctor/space tourist (Lee Min-ho)
Why we’re excited: It’s literally an out of this world romance! And we’re getting a romantic Lee Min-ho once again.

The Worst Evil

When: TBA
Cast: Ji Chang-wook, Wi Ha-joon, Im Se-mi
Plot: It’s an action thriller about a police officer (Ji Chang-wook) who infiltrates a criminal organization
Why we’re excited: Ji Chang-wook in an action drama plus Wi Ha-joon as head of a crime group? Sold!

Queen of Tears

When: TBA
Cast: Kim Soo-hyun, Kim Ji-won
Plot: It’s said to be a humorous love story about a married couple who manage to survive a crisis and stay together against all odds.
Why we’re excited: Both Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won are great actors who can carry any role, plus we’re excited to see the chemistry between the two.

Tell Me It’s Love/Call It Love (Disney+)

When: TBA
Cast: Lee Sung-kyung, Kim Young-kwang
Plot: “Tell Me It’s Love” or “Call It Love” tells the story of Shim Woo-joo (Lee Sung-kyung), a woman who plots revenge against Han Dong-jin (Kim Young-kwang) who has harmed her family.
Why we’re excited: We’d love to see Lee Sung-kyung in a melodrama since we often see her in fun, comedic roles.

King The Land

Cast: Im Yoona, Lee Jun-ho
When: TBA
Plot: Goo Won (Lee Jun-ho) is a chaebol who runs the King Group. Opposite his serious character is Cheon Sa-rang, a bright woman who works at the King Hotel.
Why we’re excited: We often see these two performing on stage together and we finally get them in a project that looks like a classic K-drama formula for success.

A Time Called You (Netflix)

When: TBA
Cast: Jeon Yeo-been, Ahn Hyo-seop, Kang Hoon
Plot: After the death of her boyfriend, Han Jun-hee (Jeon Yeo-been) travels back to 1998 and into the body of a high schooler named Kwon Min-joo. There she meets the most popular boy with a striking resemblance to her dead boyfriend.
Why we’re excited: It’s another 90s nostalgic drama that would surely bring us tears.

Vigilante

When: TBA
Cast: Nam Joo-hyuk, Yoo Ji-tae
Plot: This live action adaptation of a webtoon follows the story of Kim Ji-yong, a police university student who hunts down criminals every weekend.
Why we’re excited: Nam Joo-hyuk in a police uniform? Plus, this will probably be Nam Joo-hyuk’s last K-drama for a while since he is currently waiting to be drafted for his military service.

The Girl Downstairs (Netflix)

When: TBA
Cast: Bae Suzy, Yang Se-jong
Plot: A college student moves into his new apartment on his first day in college and finds out that an ex-celebrity named Doona lives downstairs.
Why we’re excited: The K-drama adaptation of the popular webtoon will be helmed by the same director of “Crash Landing on You” and “Romance is a Bonus Book.”

Black Night (Netflix)

When: TBA
Cast: Kim Woo-bin, Esom, Kang Yoo-seok
Plot: This is a post apocalyptic drama set in 2071 when it is impossible to breathe without a respirator because of air pollution.
Why we’re excited: The plot itself will surely excite sci-fi enthusiasts. This genre doesn’t come around too often in K-dramas so we’re looking forward to it.

Murder DIEary (Netflix)

When: TBA
Cast: Choi Woo-shik, Son Seok-koo, Lee Hee-joon
Plot: It’s adapted from a webtoon about an ordinary student who becomes a dark hero and punishes people who committed evils in the past.
Why we’re excited: The role seems to be a perfect fit for Choi Woo-shik with his boy-next-door charm and capacity to play an unexpected hero.

Demon

When: TBA
Cast: Kim Tae-ri, Oh Jung-se
Plot: The story is about a woman possessed by an evil spirit and a man who can see evil inside human bodies as they dig into mysterious deaths.
Why we’re excited: It’s another drama from the creator of “Kingdom” so we’ll surely be looking forward to something thrilling and perhaps horrifying.

A Good Day To be a Dog

When: TBA
Cast: Cha Eun-woo, Park Gyu-young
Plot: This is another webtoon-based drama about a woman with a unique curse. The person she kisses turns into a dog at midnight for six hours.
Why we’re excited: We’d love to see Cha Eun-woo back in the romcom game!

Song of the Bandits (Netflix)

When: TBA
Cast: Kim Nam-gil, Seohyun
Plot: It’s a period drama set in the 1920s during the Japanese occupation. Kim Nam-gil is Lee Yoon, a former Japanese soldier who becomes a thief to protect their land and people.
Why we’re excited: It sure looks like an epic drama just with the plot, plus we’ll surely get another awesome performance from Kim Nam-gil.

Moving (Disney+)

When: TBA
Cast: Ryu Seung-ryong, Han Hyo-joo, Jo In-sung, Go Yoon-jung
Plot: This drama is based on another webtoon about three not-so-ordinary students who hide their special (super) abilities that they inherited from their parents. One can fly. Another has special athletic abilities while the other has uncanny speed and power.
Why we’re excited: It’s an all-star cast drama with a very intriguing plot.
