Early Life

Kate Walsh was born on 13th October 1967 to Joseph P. Walsh and Angela C. Bochetto in San Jose. She is one of the three children of the family. She spent her youth days in Tucson, where she attended Catalina Magnet High School but later moved to Rincon High School and completed her high school studies from there. She had also attended the University of Arizona for studying acting but dropped later. She moved to New York, where she joined a comedy troupe and started waitressing. She also worked at the Burger King and Dairy Queen before starting as a model.

Kate Walsh started her television career from an episode of “Homicide: Life on the Street” as Cathy Buxton. She then worked as a Navy Lieutenant in the episode “Navy Blues” of “Law & Order” before making a breakthrough from “the Drew Carey Show” as Nicki Fifer; love interest of Drew Carey. She then worked in the HBO series “The Mind of the Married Man” as Carol Nelson and in the sitcom “The Norm Show.” She appeared as a guest actor in the series “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” as Mimosa. She had a recurring role in “Late Night with Conan” and also in the 2003 series “Karen Sisco” as Detective Marley Novak.

Her next big appearance was in the 2005 series “Grey’s Anatomy,” where she portrayed the role of Dr. Addison Montgomery. She reprised her role in the spin-off of “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Private Practice,” in 2007. She was also seen in the TV commercial for Cadillac CTS. She was seen in the 10-episode drama “Full Circle” by Neil LaBute.

She was then seen in series, including “Frago,” “The Hotwives of Orlando,” “Bad Judge,” “13 Reasons Why,” and in the 2019 Netflix original series “The Umbrella Academy.”

They were together for just fifteen months until Alex filed for divorce in December of 2008. They were officially divorced in February of 2010.

Welsh was diagnosed with benign meningioma in 2015, which she revealed publicly in 2017. The tumor was removed successfully, and Kate took a break of nine months. She also did a hip replacement in 2019.

Kate has a mixed ancestry of Irish and Italian. She is five feet, eight inches in height, and weighs 63 kgs. She has nicknames; Katie, K-Town, and Katiekat. For her role in “The Drew Carey Show,” she had to wear a fat suit.
