He was Edward Phillip O’Neill, a mill worker, a driver, and Ruth Ann O’Neill, a homemaker and a social worker. He is famous for his role as Al Bundy in the TV series named ‘Married ….with Children’ and Jay Pritchett in the series named ‘Modern Family.’ He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the American football team Pittsburgh Steelers in 1969 but was removed at training camp.

He also learned Brazilian martial Art Jiu-Jitsu for about 22 years under grandmaster Rorion Gracie and earned a black belt in 2007. In addition, he had done a part in a stage production of ‘John Steinbeck’s of Mice and Men’ at the American Repertory Theatre in 1979.
