Leontyne Price was a remarkable lyric-dramatic soprano, with an amazingly beautiful timbre. She achieved acclaim in many lyric roles, but is most remembered for her performances as the Verdi heroine Aida. Her dazzling voice made her a sensation at Opera houses throughout the world.

Rossini’s professional career began at age 22 in Naples. He signed a contract with La Scala in 1900, and soon performed in “La Boheme” under Toscanini. He began to gain major opportunities throughout Europe. In 1901, he was part of a concert to honor the composer Verdi, alongside the great Italian tenor Francesco Tamagno. In the same year, he made his first acoustic recordings and soon earned the attention of the Gramophone & Typewriter Company. His recordings became best sellers. By 1902, Rossini was hired by the Royal Opera House, and his career blossomed.
