Wanted to paint this fella for a long time, so on Monday passed I decided that it was a case of no time like the present. First time I saw him he reminded me of Walter Farley's Black Stallion books, because although he's officially grey, as a two year old he was almost black. Handsome and super fast on his good days, (Aidan O'Brien says he is the only horse at Ballydoyle to hit a top speed of 45 miles per hour) he captured my heart. I've portrayed him as his coat is turning to grey. Many thanks go to Michael R Smithson once again for kindly letting me use his photos as reference. Painted on a linen panel with clear gesso, using Atelier Acrylics.
