To the ire of many gamers, free-to-play games have always cost money to play on Xbox due to the requirement of needing an Xbox Live Gold account membership. After announcing a price increase to Xbox Live Gold and hours later reversing that decision, Microsoft also announced that free-to-play games will soon be able to be played online for free as well.
