Ella Booth Obituary: Booth’s Grocery CEO Died, Cause of Death

Ella Booth death – Due to the passing of the woman who had run Booth’s Grocery since it started, a Grand Chenier landmark, it is now closed. Ella Mae Booth, who went by the nickname “T-Mae” and lived to be 95 years old, was known as the matriarch of Grand Chenier and a representative of Cameron Parish.

I was born and raised here, Booth said in a 2021 interview with 7News. She was fairly small. According to Booth’s daughter Dona Adams, T-Mae was pronounced that way because “T” in French meant for “small.” The comma at the top, Cajun Onstar, a well-known YouTube video, all helped make Booth’s Grocery famous. T-Mae ran the family-owned convenience store.

People from all over the world would come here and sign in, and her book was no exception,” Adams continued. She and her husband built the company from the ground up in 1957. Booth’s niece Rose Manuel recalls seeing her mother working behind the counter helping customers. She allegedly would make meals while she wasn’t working behind the store, according to Adams and Manuel.

She would tell them to “go in the kitchen and get something to eat,” no matter who they were, according to Adams. She liked people and cherished life. They had to start over after Hurricane Rita, which is how the current building was built.
