A man who recently shot and killed a New Mexico State Police officer is seen on new video in southern New Mexico. The perspective of another officer who was hurt by the gunfire is seen in the video.
Adrian de La Garza, a Las Cruces police officer, shot the video on his lapel while traveling on I-10 in February. One of the officers pursuing Omar Cueva after he killed Officer Darian Jarrott at a station close to Deming was De La Garza.

In the footage, De La Garza stops Cueva’s pickup before approaching him from behind. Cueva then started shooting, striking the officer. Drone video was also used to document the event.
Officer De La Garza fired at Cueva while standing up. Cueva was killed by gunfire that was also fired by other police officers. Then, a number of officers assisted in attending to De La Garza at the scene.
Numerous law enforcement agencies are present. DHS allegedly urged NMSP to assist with the investigation by placing Cueva under custody.
