Patrick Briggs Obituary: American Singer And Lead Vocalist of Glam Rock Passed Away, Cause of Death

At the age of eight, Briggs had his acting debut at a little theater in Burbank, California. Because he was the only child in the theater, he made the error of going to the audition for The Seven Year Itch, where he was cast as Little Ricky.

His first band, The Limelight, a short-lived glam rock outfit, had Briggs on vocals, along with Tracii Guns, Johnny B. Frank from Kingdom Come, and Rikki Rockett, the drummer for Poison. Later, he works for Limelight as a party dancer.

RIP #PatrickBriggs#PatBriggs You will forever be in my heart. It would be just like you to pass away on #PattiSmith’s birthday and the day after Marianne Faithfull’s b-day, two of your idols. Rest in Peace my brother. PatrickBriggs! I’m going to miss the fuck out you! @thaotherotherwhitemeat #psychotica#talentedmotherfucker @ Hollywood Hills

Briggs relocated to New York City in the 1980s and started working for the Cat Club.

Briggs was tasked with bringing in patrons as the manager of Don Hill’s, a modest New York nightclub, in 1994. To create Psychotica, Briggs linked up with Tommy Salmorin, a bassist and bartender from Don Hill.

Briggs played a key role in developing theme nights at the Glitterdome, a club in Atlanta. It’s a night of rock ‘n’ roll, drag, and sex. Briggs typically performs with the Glitterdome while decked up as his alter ego Torment. It also features other regional drag queens from Atlanta as well as other well-known celebrities.

Briggs also developed Club Makeup, a night at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles where E! channels have a unique document. In New York City, he founded Squeezebox as well. Push the box! On April 25, 2008, the movie had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Additionally, Briggs performed vocals and went on a brief tour with the Impotent Sea Snakes.

Briggs’ close friend Carrie Hamilton had a lung cancer diagnosis in the latter part of 2001. To be by her side, Briggs left Atlanta and came back to Los Angeles. He supported her during her illness and spent the majority of the year in Los Angeles with her and her family. He traveled back to Atlanta for another Glitterdome performance in January 2002, on Hamilton’s suggestion. Immediately following the concert on January 20, 2002, he was informed that Hamilton had passed away. For a six-page interview that appeared in Popular 1 magazine’s November issue, Briggs traveled back to Los Angeles. There are previously unseen pictures of Briggs in this article. A few weeks prior to the announcement that Psychotica had signed with Toxic Shock Records, the interview took place in July 2008. On December 30, 2022, Briggs passed away.
